This is a small gift/request to a very good friend of mine on both here and GameSpot.
All I can say about this is that I had a hard time with shading. It has come to a point where I don't like what I've been doing with my shading skills so far. I think part of it is because I have used a mouse to do the burns and dodges on my early work. After I got my tablet, I tried the shading, and I began to notice that I wasn't always satisfied with the end result. So, I did a bit of both on this one, and it turns out that I'm happier with using a mouse for shading. If anyone has any suggestions about it, please let me know.
Anyway, I hope you like it, Reid.
Art- Character- Lineart, coloring, and shading done on Photoshop 6.0 using a Wacom Bamboo tablet and mouse
yeah. i have new technique that i'm suing to draw. it requires absolutely not talent at all but i don't care. I enjoy it. i also don't color any of my pictures. i personally just feel like my pictures are more natural without color.
Isn't having a tablet AMAZING???? I've had one since I started college and I love it! Here's a tip on shading. If you copy the lines into a new layer and use the magic wand tool to highlight a section, you can color over areas and not have to worry about doubling over and making it twice as dark. You can change the opacity on the shading layer so it's not so dark and the colors still come through.
Good job on this! I've got a couple more to color still. I spent all day drawing yesterday

Nice anatomy and the design of the pants is quite good ^^ Hmm, I used to work with a mouse too... but when I got a tablet things definitely changed!! I think is better working with the tablet than with the mouse Maybe you are having problems with the shading because you are trying to make the same thing you did with the mouse using the tablet. Why don't you try working with the tablet as if you were painting with acrylics or something? It's quite cool, when you get used to the tablet you may notice is almost like painting on a real canvass with a real brush!! I use a bamboo fun too and it's amazing, keep working with it and in no time you'll love it

Hey! Looks great man. I think you did a good job on the shading personally. And the anatomy work on this is also good^^ Don't put your self down like that! Of the pics i've seen of yours, i'm seeing a great improvement. Keep it up!
And, I use a mouse to shade all the time. I'd never be able to work a tablet, lol.
